The Most Beautiful Lakes of Durmitor: Black, Zminje, Riblje, Vražje and Škrčka Lakes

Durmitor is home to 18 glacial lakes, often called the "mountain eyes". Each lake has its own character: some are perfect for a gentle walk, some are hidden deep in the forest, and some are a true goal for experienced hikers. Camp Apartments Razvršje, located close to Black Lake, is an excellent base for exploring the lakes of Durmitor.

1. Black Lake

The most famous and beautiful lake on Durmitor. It is just 2 km from Camp Apartments Razvršje — about 20 to 25 minutes of easy walking. Surrounded by dense coniferous forest and high peaks, it is ideal for a first walk, photography and enjoying the mountain silence. The path around the lake is flat and accessible to everyone.

2. Zminje Lake

A calm and unusually beautiful lake surrounded by dense pine forest. Perfect for silence, a picnic in nature and a short walk. It is especially beautiful in the morning, when the surface of the water is undisturbed by wind or visitors.

3. Barno Lake

Located near Black Lake, Barno Lake is easily accessible and good for a short walk through the forest. It is less visited than Black Lake, making it an excellent choice for those looking for a little more peace and quiet.

4. Jablan Lake

A smaller lake hidden in nature, not on the usual tourist route. A good option for guests who want a quieter visit and an authentic mountain experience away from the crowds.

5. Riblje Lake

A peaceful lake surrounded by mountain pastures and meadows. It offers open views of the surrounding peaks and is ideal for photography and a relaxed outing in nature.

6. Vražje Lake

One of the most unusual lakes on Durmitor, known for its distinctive shape, water colours and local legends. A good choice for guests who want to see something different and a little more off the beaten track.

7. Modro Lake

A smaller and often overlooked lake with its own special atmosphere. A true hidden gem for those exploring Durmitor beyond the well-known paths.

8. Big and Small Škrčko Lakes

The Škrčka Lakes are the most mountaineering-attractive lakes on Durmitor. Located in the heart of the mountain, known for their turquoise water and rocky surroundings, they offer a true high-altitude atmosphere. A visit requires good fitness and more time, but the reward is unforgettable views.
